Questions before you sign
- Is the acquisition closed in writing?
- What support did we retain, and until when?
- Where does the supplied element sit in our baseline?
The practice, in our words
Close the acquisition when the deliverables are accepted and the evidence is filed, then integrate the supplied element into the system configuration and the system evidence pack. An acquisition that is never closed leaves an open loop in the file.
What it means in a VSE
Record the final acceptance, the warranty or support terms, and the configuration identifier of what was received. Link it to the system configuration item so the assessor can follow the chain from contract to delivered system.
In a firm of 25 people or fewer, close the acquisition and integrate the result has to earn its time. The test for AC-05 is not whether the team understands it but whether the artefact exists at the end of the project. Shrink the meeting. Shrink the document. Keep the record.
How to evidence it
Attach the artefacts above to the Close the acquisition and integrate the result row with the project name, the owner and the date. The anchor for AC-05 is The final acceptance and the closure record. A named person must produce it on request.
For AC-05, the reviewer will sample one live decision and ask for The support and warranty terms. No artefact, no evidence. A file that depends on one person's mailbox is not a file for close the acquisition and integrate the result.
What an assessor samples
An assessor reads the close the acquisition and integrate the result practice, asks for its evidence and tests one project against it. For AC-05, the useful sample is the most recent project that used the practice, not the best one. A reconstruction written for the visit is a finding for AC-05 if the practice cannot be shown to have happened when it mattered.
Common gaps
- The supplier paid and the file left open
- The supplied element missing from the as-built configuration
Where the draft fits
The public abstract places close the acquisition and integrate the result inside one of the four processes the Intermediate profile covers. For AC-05, the draft clause numbering and wording are not public, so this page cites Public abstract, process list and does not quote the draft. The basis label for AC-05 says whether the practice is stated in the public record, named as a process in the series, or our reading.
