Questions before you sign

  • Where do the templates live, and who can change them?
  • What may be tailored, and who approves it?
  • Which project last used the rule, and can it show the record?

The practice, in our words

Name the person who owns the process assets: the templates, the work product list, the role descriptions and the tailoring rule. Without an owner the assets drift, and each project reinvents the file.

What it means in a VSE

Put the assets in one place with a version and a date. Write the tailoring rule as a short table: which practice can be lightened, by how much, and who approves it. A two-week project and a nine-month project should not carry the same weight.

In a firm of 25 people or fewer, own the process assets and the tailoring rule has to earn its time. The test for BM-03 is not whether the team understands it but whether the artefact exists at the end of the project. Shrink the meeting. Shrink the document. Keep the record.

How to evidence it

Attach the artefacts above to the Own the process assets and the tailoring rule row with the project name, the owner and the date. The anchor for BM-03 is A process asset register with version, owner and date. A named person must produce it on request.

For BM-03, the reviewer will sample one live decision and ask for The written tailoring rule with an approval route. No artefact, no evidence. A file that depends on one person's mailbox is not a file for own the process assets and the tailoring rule.

What an assessor samples

An assessor reads the own the process assets and the tailoring rule practice, asks for its evidence and tests one project against it. For BM-03, the useful sample is the most recent project that used the practice, not the best one. A reconstruction written for the visit is a finding for BM-03 if the practice cannot be shown to have happened when it mattered.

Common gaps

  • Templates in three folders and no version
  • Tailoring done silently by each project lead
What changes from the 2019 report. For BM-03, the business management process is one of the four the public abstract names. The transition work is to give it an owner and a review, not to invent a new committee.

Where the draft fits
